First Step - How to Draw homer's Head
Structure-wise, there are a couple key elements to consider when drawing Homer Simpson. First, his head is vertically long and ovular. And second - the core of his body takes on the shape of a big round circle... emphasizing - yes... his gut! :-)
Here's a simple breakdown...
If you like, change his structure slightly to suit the pose you're aiming for. For example, you may just want to have both arms hanging freely. Mirror the left arm to right, and you're good to go. Tilting his head a bit upright might also be something you're after... again, make the adjustment.
Alright... got something to help you draw your character now? Very nice. Let's get on with the drawing now!
Second Step - Draw Homer Simpson, Step by Step
Focusing on his upper-half to begin with, start your drawing of Homer Simpson by focusing on his head. And yes - as you can see below, not much changes with respect to where you should start and how to progress from there.
Begin with his eyes and nose - then bring out the mouth area. From there - as though you began at a central/focal point and expanded from there outward... go ahead and sketch in the other various features/components of Homer's head and face.
And yes... continue onward till the end! Here's how to draw Homer in a series of simple-yet-detailed phases...
And when all is said and drawn - you're done, a cool cartoon character to show for! From here, add some color, or make some additional changes to make your drawing uniquely yours. Oh, and regarding the object in his hand - in this case, a can of pop... feel free to change it up. I'm thinking... donut!
Now, before we wrap things up - let's take a moment to reflect upon one of Homer Simpson's odd-but-funny quotes.
"...so the lesson is, never try."
- Homer Simpson
In the show, something like this actually comes off as quite funny. And to be honest - especially with respect to drawing -- I quite agree with Homer. If you want to get better at something - drawing & other things in life... don't just try -- TRY HARD ENOUGH!!... and much better yet -- DO!
Congrats on a job well done. :-)
